LocationVIRTUAL CLASS HOME COMPUTER DENVER, CO 80229 Class DescriptionA skills-based workshop designed to help parents foster skills and strategies needed to enhance communication and work towards building an effective foundation for a co-parenting relationship. Divorce is a life altering event that impacts the entire family structure. This workshop helps parents to minimize the negative impact of divorce on children while highlighting the benefits of working together as partners. Topics include: The needs of children in families that are dissolving their relationship, responsibility to children, attachment theory and how it relates to children under 5 years old, how to eliminate the emotional abuse committed by parents specifically during and after the dissolution of a relationship called divorce abuse, how to develop new ways to communicate and clarifying boundaries, what is an effective co-parenting relationship and developing and managing these skills, understanding the grief/loss process, establishing effective parenting schedules, steps in negotiating and making plans, how to create a unified parenting partnership in separate households and fostering a new relationship. Our evidence-based, therapeutic models are governed in Motivational Interviewing, Social Learning Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Reality Based Therapy, Accelerated Learning Strategies, Experiential Techniques and Strength Based Approaches.
